Meet Our Pastor & Elect Lady
WeElder Timothy Smith was born June 20, 1952 in Opa-Locka - (Opatishawockalocka), Florida, to the proud parents the late Elder Artie B. Smith and Mother Becky Mae Smith. He grew up in a well-established Christian home where godly values and unwavering service to the Lord were modeled by his parents. It was under their tutelage that the foundation and principles of leadership were engrained in him. Their Christian walk enabled Elder Smith to see firsthand what it meant to worship and serve the Lord in the beauty of holiness.
Elder Smith received his foundational education in the Miami-Dade County Public School System. Upon graduation, he attended college in Orlando, Florida. After a brief stay in Orlando, Elder Smith was compelled to return home to join his father in the family’s landscaping business.
Shortly after his return home Elder Smith sensed a great void in his life. The memories of his parents' teaching concerning the importance of accepting Christ as one’s personal savior began to persistently disturb his spirit. At the age of twenty-five, he accepted the Lord in his life and received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost. He began to work diligently for the Lord serving in many areas of the church: a member of the Usher Board, Deacon Board, Manager of the Inspirational Gospel Choir and Youth Council Department, Financial Secretary, Church Janitor and Gardener.
Elder Smith assumed the responsibility of each assignment with enthusiasm; operating in integrity and a commitment to excellence; relying on the Holy Spirit to lead and guide him. There was nothing he wouldn't do to enhance the expansion of God's kingdom. It came as no surprise that he was called into the ministry and anointed to teach the Gospel becoming an ordained minister.
Finally, he felt the need to take on a wife and prayed that God would send him a woman handcrafted especially for him. God answered his prayer and on January 29, 1978, he married Sherryl, his loving, talented, and anointed wife. To this union, a son was born and he has gifted them with two grandchildren. In 2007, God spoke to Elder Smith about moving to Yulee, Florida. Since that move he and his family have been under the leadership of District Elder Dr. Harry J. Johnson. On December 19, 2016 in Atlanta Georgia, he was consecrated as an Elder of Church of God by Faith. He and his wife accepted the pastoral assignment to the congregation and community of the Church of God by Faith in Woodbine, Georgia. We invite you to come worship with us!
